Kagurazaka Geisha – Celebrating the Four Seasons of Japan
Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo
On February 26, 2026, we attended the cultural event “Kagurazaka Geisha Celebrating the Four Seasons of Japan” held at the main lobby of Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo.
Organized in cooperation with the Tokyo Kagurazaka Association, the program featured traditional dance performances by Kagurazaka geisha who continue the heritage of Kagurazaka Odori, a designated intangible cultural asset of Shinjuku City.
Set against golden folding screens, elegant dances accompanied by shamisen music captivated both domestic and international guests. The open lobby setting allowed visitors to experience Japanese traditional performing arts at close range, creating a moment of refined cultural appreciation.
As members of Tokyo Licensed Guide Volunteer Group, we were reminded that culture is not merely a tourism resource — it is a foundation that connects people and sustains the dignity of a city.
